“A major key to unlock the secret to your future is to be 110% conscious of the fact that you will ultimately become who you associate with.” quoted by John Di Lemme, which I found it’s very true. And he also suggest his reader to make a list of the 5 people that we associate with on a regular basis, and then take a good look at it to see if they either have goals similar to us or are progressing towards the achievement of a goal similar to our personal 5-year goal. Then he share an example “if you have dreams of becoming healthy and wealthy and your associates are overweight smokers that complain about working one-minute overtime, then I can predict the odds of you being healthy and wealthy is slim to none.”

So I start to think about the 5 people that I associate with, on the regular basis. I found out not all of them are really have goals similar to me or are actually progressing towards the achievement of a goal similar to my 5 years goal (Some of them don’t even have a 5 years goals nor life plan), then I realize why I’m also not really progressing toward my goal.

The first thing that comes out from my mind will be say bye bye to those who are not qualify and start looking someone who is qualify then get associate with them as often as possible. That sounds good but doesn’t really sounds right, because when I found someone who is qualify, and he/she has the same mindset of only associate with the qualifiers might find that I have not reach their qualification, so I’m might end up just looking for the qualify person to associate with and didn’t progressing toward the achievement of my 5 years goal. Beside that I’m also found out that the people that I associate with the most might be the person that very important to me, I can’t just say bye bye to them because they are yet to be qualify as who I need to be associate with if I would like to really archive my 5 years goal.

So the war between efficiency me and emotional me start wrestling, and they stop while this phrase “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good.” (Romans 15:1-6 KJV) walk pass the wrestling arena. Then the efficiency me start to argue that, it is really hard to change others. Then it obedience, when this phrase “We change things but we don’t change people; we inspire them !” pass by.

Beside that, I’ve also found that for the list of 5 people we associate on the regular basis, the very first one will be super ideal if we let the almighty GOD to occupied the place, because HE is the only one that is truly the perfect and the best, as long as we are really spend time to associate with HIM and maybe only even only HIM (without the other 4), I believe we will be progressing towards the achievement of our 5 years goal and also the mission of life.

I’ve been inspire to write this blog post from reading “5 + 5 = 5” by John Di Lemme
